New Old Friends present the world premiere of MATE, a darkly comic and moving piece of original theatre about what it is like to be part of a long-term friendship.

MATE explores the price of friendship; the faux pas of a friend, the uninvited lodger, cleaning up a mate's mistake, and even the financial cost of friendship.

The company - two friends who met and began working together while drama students at Bretton Hall, (whose previous alumni include John Godber and members of The League of Gentlemen) - promises witty dialogue and memorable characters in an evening of comedy tinged with sadness. Feargus Woods Dunlop, one half of New Old Friends, was assistant director on the Young People's Theatre production of His Dark Materials, which sold out the Theatre Royal's Main House this Easter. New Old Friends' Josh Golga also performs in Mate, and the cast is completed by Andrew Dawson.
