A snowy snap lead to a big win for a John of Gaunt school pupil on Monday.
Year Eight student Oliver Bailey, 12, won a competition to show how he had fun in the snow when the school could not open because of the winter weather on Friday, January 18.
Oliver submitted a picture of wellington boots on a bench to the online contest, scooping the top prize of a Kindle.
Headteacher Andy Packer said: “The quality was very high and it was very hard to choose who would win.
“The purpose of the competition was for the students to be able to mark their day of fun in the snow with something memorable.”
Pupils were invited to submit a picture or a poem to the school’s competition.
Runners-up were given £10 book token prizes.
Mr Packer said: “Oliver’s picture really seems to tell a story.
“It was one of many very good entries, which really seemed to catch a sense of humour and fun.”
