A campaign to prioritise superfast broadband in Beckington and Rode has been launched by the Tory Parliamentary Candidate for Somerton and Frome David Warburton.
The villages are within the area of the Connecting Devon and Somerset project (CDS), which, through funding by Government in partnership with BT, will deliver superfast broadband to regions that would otherwise see no investment.
Mr Warburton said: “Beckington and Rode share a broadband exchange, in Beckington. Although this area is targeted to receive superfast broadband by 2020, at the moment – along with many other rural exchanges in Somerset – the Beckington Exchange is classified as “under evaluation,” which means it’s the lowest priority. I don’t think that’s right and I’m taking this to the Secretary of State.”
He is lobbying Ed Vaizey MP, minister with responsibility for broadband.
