A 20-year-old man has been arrested after an unprovoked stabbing in Granville Road, Melksham, on Friday.
PCSO Janet Gould said a 36-year-old man was stabbed in the leg by a man in a blue hoodie at about 9.40pm when he had been to the chip shop. He went home, but went back to Jones convenience store to get a cola. When he came out he was approached by a man who, unprovoked, stabbed him in the leg.
“He didn’t realise he was injured until he got home and his wife saw the blood. He was taken to the RUH where he underwent surgery, and has now returned home,” said the PCSO.
The suspect ran towards Granville Road.
A man from Melksham was arrested on Saturday, and has been helping police with their inquiries.
Since the incident, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team has stepped up patrols in the area.
