Pupils at St Laurence School in Bradford on Avon hope to be as successful as old boy and Olympic gold medal winning Ed McKeever, but with bats rather than a paddle.
Two new outdoor table tennis tables were installed at the school, for use at break and lunchtimes, with others at Christ Church and Fitzmaurice Primary Schools. They were paid for by Sport England and the area board from the proceeds of the Community Sports Festivals held in Bradford on Avon in 2011 and 2012.
Karen Butler, schools cluster co-ordinator for the town, said: “Who knows, the next table tennis Olympian could come from Bradford.” She thanked Isobel Martindale, who led the festivals committee.
