PREPARATIONS are under way for the Melksham 1st Spring Festival in May and the organisers say they want as many people as possible to be involved.

The event has been run over the last few years to highlight the park and river area of the town and to promote regeneration in Melksham.

The Spring Festival features craft stands and demonstrations as well as being a perfect place for businesses to promote themselves and for community groups to showcase their work.

Carolyn Beale, of Melksham 1st, said: "Last year many of Melksham's groups and organisations attended and raised funds, one group raised in excess of £200 for their group, this is good news for the people of Melksham.

"We would like to have as many stands and stalls attending as possible, along with demonstrations and things going on."

The group hopes that the event this year can expand following the success of last year and with sponsorship from West Wilts District Council, Cereal Partners UK, Kingston Estate Agents and Cooper Tyres.

The event will be on May 5 from 10am-4pm in the King George V playing fields and the Bath Road Car Park.
