CHIPPENHAM Town's directors have delayed a decision on the future of manager Darren Perrin while they take legal advice.

The board had been expected to make a decision today after chairman Sandie Webb returned from holiday in Tenerife, but after a board meeting she announced nothing would be decided until next week.

Perrin was suspended by the club last week after a run of poor results culminated in a 5-0 defeat at Banbury.. Assistant manager Adie Mings was put in charge of the team.

Perrin remains suspended and Mings will again be in charge when Chippenham travel to play Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday.

Mings has denied reports he has already been offered the manager's job and has revealed he is working without a contract at Hardenhuish.

He says he has not discussed his future with the Chippenham board.

Asked if he would accept the top job if offered, Mings said he would consider it.

"I don't know if that would be the right move for me at this present time. I would have to talk to my family and friends, and of course to Darren.

"We have been friends for 25 years, so I don't want to upset that friendship by talking about what might happen."

Perrin has declined to comment.
