POLICE confirmed this afternoon that the body of a 58-year-old Warminster man was discovered near the railway line in the village of Upton Lovell near Warminster earlier today.
Officers from the British Transport Police were contacted at 9.23am today following reports of a person being involved in a collision with a train at the level crossing.
They said they were not treating the man's death as unexplained.
The man was hit by the 8.35am First Great Western service from Southampton to Cardiff Central.
The train driver stopped the train and emergency services were called to the scene The railway line was closed between Westbury and Salisbury and a replacement bus service was put in place. The line reopened at 11.45am and services have resumed with some delays due to the incident.
