Trowbridge man Richard Jackman features on Channel 4’s controversial programme The Undateables tonight as he attempts to find his dream girl.

The popular show, now in its fourth series, follows the lives of young singletons looking for love, with the twist being that all of them consider themselves as being undateable because they are disabled.

Mr Jackman, 25, has Asperger’s syndrome, which is characterised by significant difficulties in social interaction, while he also suffers from panhypopituitarism, which is caused by a deficiency in pituitary hormone production.

Mr Jackman, who has lived in Trowbridge since 2005 and works for a car dealership, said: “I had watched the programme before and I had thought about going on it, so when the opportunity to apply came around I decided to go for one of the positions on the show.

“My main aim going into the show was to find love, but I also wanted to raise awareness about my pituitary illness. I wanted to find someone who was kind and caring and happy in their life.”

Mr Jackman is matched with 28-year-old Tammy on the show, which is being screened tonight at 9pm.

He said: “I was a bit nervous at first before the filming, but it was a positive experience and one I really enjoyed.

"You will have to watch the programme to see how I get on and I will probably watch it with my family.”
