ONE could not help noting all the letters in last week's Wiltshire Times expressing anger at the Wiltshire Primary Care Trust's decisions on the future of our health services. I am sure you had others in a similar vein that you did not publish.
Wherever I walk in Trowbridge local people come up to me and say just how much they disagree with these proposals - especially the loss of the world-renowned Trowbridge Maternity Unit with its valued midwife-led service.
Can I please urge all those who feel particularly let down by the Primary Care Trust to write to the Roy While, chairman of the Wiltshire County Health Scrutiny Committee at County Hall, Trowbridge, BA14 8JD. This committee will be meeting on March 1 at 10.30am to evaluate these proposals. They actually have the power to reject them and refer them back to the Secretary of State for Health.
However they will only do this if there is clear evidence of public concern. I will be raising various concerns myself but without clear public backing my observations will not go far.
So if you do have concerns let the County Health Scrutiny Committee know and if possible attend the meeting.
JEFF OSBORN, Chairman, Friends of Trowbridge Hospital
