A 62-year-old woman is in a stable but critical condition after it is thought she fell 30ft from a stone wall near Sainsbury's in Melksham this morning.
She sustained multiple injuries including a fracture to her leg and injuries to her pelvis at 7.20am.
Paramedics arrived within minutes to the scene at scrubland behind the supermarket in Bath Road.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance then flew her to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol at 8am after landing nearby at the King George V Playing Field.
It took them six minutes to arrive at the hospital. They tweeted: “Busy start for the day crew, they've just landed at Southmead having airlifted a major trauma victim to there from Melksham.”
