ATWORTH Youth Club is to close because of the lack of members on the committee.

The group has unsuccessfully been trying to recruit a new session leader, who has first aid qualifications, and a chairperson.

Rachel Carver, club secretary, said: “It is with much regret that we announce the closure of Atworth Youth Club, with immediate effect.  The outgoing committee at the Annual General Meeting has had to make this decision for two reasons.

“Firstly, we have been unable to recruit a new session leader. This person must have safeguarding and first aid qualifications, which the parent helpers alone, do not have.

“Secondly, we have not been able to elect a chairperson as no persons have come forward. If we do not have the minimum quorum of people required, as set out by the charities commission, we cannot continue to run.”

One last meeting is being held March 26 at 7.30 in the youth club building in a bid to recruit new helpers.
