POLICE have confirmed that a 73-year-old man died following a crash on the A303 at West Knoyle yesterday – the eighth fatal accident on Wiltshire’s roads in the last month.
Officers attended the scene just after 10.50am yesterday to reports of a blue Peugeot 406, driven by a 73-year-old local man east bound, colliding with a black motorcycle.
The driver of the Peugeot turned right across the westbound lane and collided with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle travelling west.
This resulted in a collision with a grey Audi A6, driven by a 44-year-old woman from the Surrey area.
The motorcyclist, from the London area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for six hours in both directions between Willoughby Hedge and Stourhead junctions to allow for an investigation to take place.
Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses who have not made themselves known to contact the collision unit on Wiltshire 101 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
