A FIRE crew from Trowbridge was called to a house fire on West Street earlier today.
The blaze, which was caused by a fat fire, caused substantial damage to the kitchen as two fire fighters with breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.
The lone occupant of the house suffered a minor burn to her hand and smoke inhalation but did not require medical assistance.
Guy Tadman, watch manager at Trowbridge Fire Station, said: “We’d like to remind everyone that if you do have a fire when cooking food to get a damp cloth and put it over the fire.
“Turn off the heat source and leave the food where it is.”
