EVENING rush hour commuters who use the Winsley Road in Bradford on Avon could be hit with delays if a planned road closure goes ahead at the end of the month.

Wiltshire Council are planning to close part of Winsley Road from its junction with Huntingdon Place in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 150m from September 28 to October 2.

It is anticipated that the work will only need to take place from 6pm-12am every evening but as a result, a diversion has been set up which will take motorists out of Bradford on the Bath Road to join the A4 into the city and subsequently down the A36 to reach Winsley.

The closure has been enforced to allow for kerbing, carriageway resurfacing and road marking works to take place. Wiltshire Council have said they hope the works will be completed during this time although it could be delayed depending on weather conditions.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Wiltshire Council confirmed that due to the closure coming into force from 6pm, there will not be a shuttle bus in operation to take passengers to Winsley which will be unreachable from the closure.

Instead the 265 service will follow the diversion and drop passengers outside Christ Church which will be the closest stop to the village.
