HAVING attended the public meeting in Trowbridge for the Community Governance Review, I found myself confused by the comments made by two town councillors when compared to the facts set out in the Wiltshire Council agenda paper.

The latter clearly states that the CGR must reflect the identities and interests of communities and must take into account the impact of governance on community cohesion and any change must improve communities and local democracy. The two councillors on the other hand seemed to be overly concerned with income for the town council and provision of town facilities.

I now read in your paper that the leader of Trowbridge Town Council has said that “....something which isn’t included in the CGR, could see them fall short of funding”.

So, it would seem that finance is at the heart of the town council cry to expand its borders. Surely this is an abuse of process and not what the CGR should be about?
