A MELKSHAM family are the stars of a new primetime television advert after winning a competition.

Liam Cripps, Westbury's Community Engagement Manager for Wiltshire Council, and his wife Jodie decided to enter a competition on Facebook run by AO, an online retailer specialising in household appliances.

To enter the competition, the couple and their four children recorded a short film of the family using the company’s items around the house, and were picked out as winners a week later.

Mr Cripps said: “We entered the competition because the kids love making videos, we didn’t expect to win anything so it was a really nice surprise.

“The filming experience was great. Their team came over from Manchester and spent the day with us. There was a lighting team and everything, it felt like being on a film set.

“Not only did we get to feature on the advert, we were also given new appliances for our home including a new tele and coffee maker.

“It was quite surreal seeing the advert aired on television, friends and family have been texting us saying they found it quite funny seeing us on the box.

“We loved the experience so much we’re now hoping to get some more television work in the future.”

The advert aired on ITV2 on March 17 and will run on a number of primetime channels for around one month.
