POLICE were led on a high speed car chase through Trowbridge in the early hours of Monday morning.
A 16-year-old boy remains in custody this morning after being arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking a vehicle without consent.
An officer attempted to carry out a routine traffic stop at around 11.45pm on Sunday in Stallard Street but the black Volkswagen Lupo failed to stop and was pursued by a police car into Wingfield Road, where it crashed into the garden of an empty house.
It is understood the car lost control and plunged into the air during the crash, narrowly avoiding a tree.
At least two people were seen to leave the vehicle and enquiries were carried out in the area to locate them.
This included use of a police dog and patrols around the area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
