FITZMAURICE Primary School are leading from the front on the eco-friendly push after achieving the Eco-Schools Green Flag award.

After years of working hard to make sure sustainability is an integral part of everyday school life, the Bradford on Avon school hoisted their green flag on Friday morning, to everyone’s delight.

All of last week, the school immersed themselves in their Eco-Week with pupils doing various eco-friendly projects and learning about green energy, the environment, recycling and much more After working its way up from bronze and then silver status, They achieved the green status pinnacle last week, much to the delight of head teacher Tracy Dunn.

“I am extremely proud of everyone involved, I could not been any prouder of the work they have produced,” she said.

“All the kids have really embraced this and the enthusiasm has been fantastic. This is something we will definitely do again.

Eco-Schools is an international award programme that encourages schools to look at all aspects of sustainability, including everything from composting and healthy eating to energy saving and recycling.
