MELKSHAM mayor Terri Welch enjoyed a VIP tour of the new look Blenheim House Care Home last week.
Mrs Welch was given a sneak preview on the new look site which includes a new 32-bed building, a traditional pub, an indoor potting shed, pet shop, sensory gardens and a car park.
The state-of-the-art extension to the existing building, in Bath Road, will be open to the public next month
"I was incredibly impressed by the building. The bedrooms are beautifully designed, large and full of natural light and the wide corridors give a real sense of space," she said.
"There has been particular focus given to the needs of people living with dementia and features such as the potting shed and the sweet shop are wonderful.
"Like many towns Melksham is faced with the challenges of an ageing population and the new look Blenheim House will be a real asset to the whole community."
