CHRISTMAS lights in two towns will be switched on this evening.

Warminster's Christmas lights will be switched on by four-year-old Finn Martin, who is currently in remission of cancer, and his nine-year-old brother, Archie, who both attend Minster Primary School.

Mum Debbie said: “It’s lovely that the boys will be able to turn the lights on together and we want to say a big thank you the council for inviting them.

“Archie is sometimes overlooked but he always takes it really well. When Finn was diagnosed last year he said he wished it was him who had been diagnosed and not Finn which was quite sweet.

“So for the council to include him in their invitation alongside Finn was very kind and we appreciate it.”

The lantern parade, led by a drummer and an accordionist, will start at the Civic Centre at 5.30pm, finishing up at The Chapel of St Lawrence, where the Christmas cheer will continue.

At the chapel there will be performances from the Warminster Brass Band and traditional carol singing led by a number of local choirs.

Christmas lights in Trowbridge will be switched on by Coronation Street actor Bill Ward, who is currently playing Abanazar in a Theatre Royal production of Aladdin, at 6pm in Fore Street.

There will be a stage in place for singers and choirs to perform on, naughty elves handing out candy canes for the grown-ups, a land train to ferry people around the town and stalls selling gifts.
