D THOMAS, in his November 25 letter (Political capital), is wrong on two points. Firstly, the person who murdered MP Jo Cox underwent a series of mental health tests and was declared fit to stand trial. Secondly, D Thomas writes that he “does not represent those who voted to leave the EU”.
Sadly he does represent a small minority of those who voted Leave, ie the English Democrats, BNP, Liberty GB and the National Front, all of whom stood candidates in the Batley and Spen by-election, and all of whom lost their deposits.
The by-election was won by Tracy Brown (Labour) with 85.6% of the votes.
