THE Legion bikers are being a bit childish when they refuse to pay the £30 stallholders’ fee that all the other participants at the Armed Forces Day (page 4, April 24, Wiltshire Times) are being called to pay.
Frankly everyone thought that they were called upon to lead because they loved doing it.
Not everyone has a flash motorbike and all the clothing and accessories necessary to look good as the vanguard of the parade.
Personally I would pay £30 to ride as one of the flag bearers, except I sold my bike many years ago to put the money towards a mortgage for my growing family.
Come on lads, put £30 in the kitty, you know it will be put to good use and you can carry on with your swanking to remind everyone that you served your country as a cavalryman – presumably that is the qualification to be a member of the bikers.
