Bradford on Avon Rotary Club held a handover evening last week to welcome their new president Mike Oldfield.
Mr Oldfield, who lives with his partner Zoe, has now retired from his work as an independent business consultant.
In his acceptance speech he spoke of looking forward to his year saying he intends to give support where we can, both home & abroad.
His chosen charity for the year relates to research into patients whose skin is so delicate it is known as the “Butterfly” disease, their skins fragility being like that of a butterfly’s wings.
It was also announced that the Club have pledged this year nearly £10,000 to charity with final donations of £2000 going to “Hope For Tomorrow” a mobile chemotherapy unit, £1000 to “Julia’s House”, the children’s hospice in Devizes & £1000 to outgoing president David Crow’s chosen charity, “R.I.C.E.” an international dementia research treatment centre in Bath.
