RESIDENTS of Rode near Trowbridge are being urged to learn more about morris dancing.

Bathampton Morris are holding a free come and learn Cotswold evening at the Playing Field Pavilion in Rode on Thursday, February 1 from 7.30pm to 10pm.

The group has targeted Rode because it always gets a good reception in the village when it arranges events there, such as its annual mumming tour.

The session is open to all those interested in traditional English folk music and dance and is an opportunity to learn a few steps, meet the people and perhaps be inspired.

Bathampton Morris spokesperson John Laver said: "The evening will kick off with some music and a few basic steps and lead on to dancing in a team.

"We will round off with a few refreshments at the Cross Keys in Rode and some further music.

"Please come and join us for an enjoyable, different evening where you can participate and don’t forget to bring a musical instrument if you can string a few notes together."
