AROUND one third of people in Trowbridge are living with potentially dangerous faults in the home because they cannot afford to fix them, a company claims.
CORGI HomePlan surveyed 2,000 locals and found that 30 per cent of Trowbridge residents cannot afford to fix things like broken toilets, radiators, dodgy light fittings, plug sockets and wiring.
A total of 57 per cent admitted that there are things in their homes that need repairing and 49 per cent said they would take action to carry out household repairs if and when the problem gets worse.
One third plan to attend to their domestic issues as soon as they have the money available.
Peter Southcott, Chief Executive of CORGI HomePlan, says: “It’s clear people are living with lots of broken appliances and potentially dangerous situations in their home.
“That’s a real shame, because it is totally avoidable.”
