A TROWBRIDGE family has been forced from their home after clothes came into contact with a kitchen cooker on Wednesday afternoon.
Two Trowbridge fire crews were called at 3.40pm to a ground floor flat in Timbrell Street to put out the flames.
Nobody was hurt in the fire with a hose reel jet, but the flat is now ‘uninhabitable’.
Two breathing apparatuses were used by firemen as they tackled the fire.
Watch manager at Trowbridge, Guy Tadman, said: “We would like to remind people about safe storage of clothing and other items to make sure they are not placed on top of hobs or cookers.
“They were alerted to the fire by the working smoke alarms.
“The kitchen is badly damaged, as is the hallway and the place is now uninhabitable. The young family will have to move out.
“This was an accidental fire.”
The two crews left the scene, after making the area safe, not long after 4.30pm.
