A TROWBRIDGE teenager who is accused of carrying out a serious assault in the middle of the night is to face trial by judge and jury.

Corri Nickle pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.

And the 18-year-old also denied assaulting a woman during the same alleged incident on Sunday March 25.

Nickle, of Millhand Villas, is said to have carried out the assaults on a footbridge over County Way shortly before 3am in the morning.

Judge Jason Taylor QC adjourned the case to Tuesday August 28 and remanded Nickle, who appeared in court by videolink, in custody until then.

A 47-year-old man is said to have suffered facial injuries and suspected broken ribs in the alleged assault close to the Tesco Extra. He was then taken to hospital.

It is alleged a 44-year-old woman was also assaulted on the over bridge leading off Brown Street.
