ONE lucky Trowbridge man won the chance to see his business advertised all over Wembley Stadium after coming first in a football competition.

Myles Woodward, of Cavill Court, entered into Checkatrade’s #SkillsOnSite competition where employees film and then send off their freestyling football skills at work.

After putting together a video featuring a vast array of skills, the 23-year-old ended up winning the whole thing, meaning BCL Groundworks’ branding was put up around the home of English football for the Checkatrade Trophy final between Lincoln City and Shrewsbury.

Myles got to go pitchside, get his hands on the trophy, have a little segment written about him in the matchday programme and he got two tickets to see the game as well.

“It was a brilliant day out. We got treated like royalty which was great,” said Myles, who works as a groundworker for the Bridgwater-based business.

“There were companies all across the country who entered so I feel pretty lucky that I made it.

“I actually am a freestyle footballer so it was quite lucky that this happened.

“I never thought that this would come in handy at work but now it has.

“BCL Groundworks is built on reputation and recommendation.

“As a small business it is essential that we advertise our businesses to keep the work coming in.

“A huge thanks to Checkatrade for a great day out at the final, the match was fantastic, and it was an experience I will never forget.”

The company’s branding appeared outside the stadium as well as the internal perimeter boards and big screen throughout the game in April.

Gavin Dutton, Managing Director of Checkatrade, said: “We promote the hard work of tradesmen each day and it makes me very proud to be able to reward the commitment and diligence of Myles and the team at BCL Groundworks.

“Their business was viewed by over 40,000 fans as well as hundreds of thousands of people watching live on Sky Sports – now that’s money-can’t-buy exposure.

“And of course, I would also like to add my congratulations to Lincoln City for their fantastic victory.”
