ACTIVE Trowbridge has just celebrated its 10th anniversary by launching a new Walking Sports project.
The council-run organisation has been given £1,800 from the Toyota Fund for a Better Tomorrow towards the community scheme.
It will enable Active Trowbridge to launch a new soccer-based activity aimed at the over-50s. Although adults of all ages and abilities are welcome, the walking football will be played at a gentler pace.
Hayley Bell, of Active Trowbridge, said: “We are pleased to be working with key partners to offer our community the walking sports project. These are inclusive and We hope to build a sense of community within these clubs.”
The walking sports will take place at the Trowbridge Park hard courts.
All of the sessions are conducted by Active Trowbridge, the Town Council’s leisure services team, in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Each hourly session between 10.30am and 11.30am costs just £3 per person and it’s a friendly way to help improve fitness.
The sessions include walking rugby on Mondays, hockey on Wednesdays and football on Thursdays.
