PLUNGING into a pool to escape the hot weather has been made easier for children throughout the county as free summer swimming sessions have launched across the county.
From now until August 31, children aged under 16 can swim for free every day at all Wiltshire Council swimming pools.
Children aged under eight need a parent or guardian to accompany them in the pool as children make a splash during the free play sessions.
This is the tenth year the council has run the service that also gives children free swimming sessions over the Christmas holidays and during schools breaks.
John Thomson, Wiltshire Council’s cabinet member for leisure, said: “Free swimming is hugely popular, and a great benefit to families during the long summer holidays.
“It offers children a chance to get out and about, get some exercise and have some fun – without stretching the family budget.”
Application forms can be filled in online or picked up from gyms in and around the county.
