A Jurassic Park-themed car had a close encounter with today’s version of a T-rex at Longleat.

The vehicle, which was created by Jurassic Park fan Becky Perkins, went on a tour of the famous Wiltshire Safari Park where it caused quite a stir among the park’s famous pride of lions.

In a scene reminiscent of the film the tribute vehicle, which took several months to hand paint and features the famous iconic green and yellow Jurassic Park design, was surrounded by big cats as it ventured into their enclosure.

Longleat’s Steve Mytton said: “Visitors often comment on how similar the entrance to our Safari Park is to the opening shots of the original Jurassic Park.

“I’m not sure if Becky was prepared for the reception she got from the lions but they certainly gave as good as their prehistoric counterparts and provided her with an unbelievably close encounter,”

Clearly undeterred by her experience Becky is set to return to the Park on September 1st to take part in a Jurassic Park themed car pool which will feature up to a dozen vehicles inspired by the film franchise.

The event will also coincide with a last opportunity for visitors to see ‘T. rex: The Killer Question’ an interactive exhibition.

Devised and created by the Natural History Museum, it features a fearsome T. rex skeleton cast and model, amazingly realistic animatronic dinosaur scenes depicting hunting and scavenger behaviours and graphic displays.
