RADSTOCK Co-operative Society has donated £1,000 to Trowbridge Community Hospital from a 5p charge on single-use plastic bags at its Castle Mead store.
The society canvassed its members before deciding who should benefit from the funds raised from the charge.
Chris Warren, director, Radstock Co-operative Society, said they were delighted to help support local community health provision as it had resonated with members.
“Trowbridge Hospital is an important part of community life within the vicinity of our Castle Mead store and many of our colleagues, customers and members have benefited from the care they provide. So, we are delighted to make a significant donation to them.”
Simon Bailey, Trowbridge Community Team clinical lead for Wiltshire Health and Care said: “We are very grateful to Radstock Co-operative Society. The money will be split across the hospital, benefitting patients from the local community.”
