A WARMINSTER chef has stormed her way to take the top title at a national culinary competition held by her employer Sodexo.

Elaine Morris, who is based at Battlesbury Barracks, stunned judges with her two entries in the sugar floral display category to win Best in Show, beating 400 other Sodexo chefs from around the UK and Ireland.

Elaine spent eight months creating the two entries in secret before taking them to the annual Salon Culinaire at Ascot racecourse on 26 September.

She won two gold medals, best in class in her category and was named overall winner on the day.

Ms Morris is part of the Sodexo team serving more than 300 military personnel every day at the Junior Ranks Dining Centre at Battlesbury Barracks.

In the 11 years Elaine has been with Sodexo she has entered the contest many times and this is her second best in show.

Elaine said: “My first-ever entry was in the tray bake category and I’ve improved my skills and the quality of my entries every time, so I’m thrilled to win.”“I started creating the sugar floral displays in January. I kept everything a closely-guarded secret while I was working on them as I wanted a big reveal.”
