YOUNG people in Chippenham will benefit from a £5000 grant from the Santander Foundation to homeless support charity Alabaré, which will fund training with an employability coach to help them develop the skills, experience and qualifications needed to enter the workplace.
The Santander Foundation offers Discovery grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities. The employability coach will work with socially isolated and vulnerable young people aged 16-25 who are residents of one of Alabaré’s supported housing schemes in Chippenham. The funding provided will allow the coach to work once a week for a year.
The coach will help them access work placements and training, and will support them in securing employment.
Rob Gibson, training development manager at Alabaré, said: “The financial support we have received from the Santander Foundation will allow us to provide vulnerable young people in Chippenham with the vital skills they need to access employment opportunities.”
Nicholas Patrick, branch manager at Santander in Chippenham said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations to local projects every year with the aim of assisting organisations, communities and vulnerable people throughout the UK.
"We recognise the great work Alabaré does in the local community and we hope this grant will help them in their support for local people.”
Since 1991, Alabaré has been working with people facing disadvantage through homelessness, mental ill-health and learning disability. It provides housing and personalised support.
