The death of a woman who was found in a flat in Rowley Place, Melksham yesterday (Friday) afternoon isn’t being treated as suspicious.
Firecrews from Trowbridge, Melksham, a specialist unit from Salisbury, forensics and crime scene investigators attended the scene on Friday afternoon where the body was discovered.
A police spokesman said: “We were called by the fire service at 3.15pm yesterday (December 21) to a report of a fire at an address in Rowley Place, Melksham.
“One woman, aged in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The cause of the fire is currently unknown, although it is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
“Enquiries are ongoing and members of the public can expect to see a police presence at the address today while the scene is preserved.”
