PUPILS at Horningsham Primary School have been getting germ-savvy as they take part in Dettol’s handy helpers programme designed to educate children on the impact of spreading germs.

The five-week programme which finishes at the end of term has seen pupils learning how to stop germs spreading, from posters and other learning materials.

A stock of Dettol handsoaps were also delivered to the school for the children to use and turn their learning into practice.

Fifteen schools across Britain have taken part in the controlled study which aims to reinforce good hygiene habits, both in schools and at home, as well as reducing the number of sick days.

A huge 75 per cent of Brits believe schools and nurseries are the most germ-ridden place, yet a lack of action to prevent the spread of germs means nearly 22 million school days lost due to the common cold alone.
