BATH Drama's centenary year kicks off this week with Jack and the Beanstalk, one of the country’s great traditional pantomimes.

The first of six performances begin at 7.30pm on Wednesday at the Rondo Theatre at Larkhall in Bath.

The five-day run ends with the matinee on Sunday, January 20 and comes complete with a large cast, colourful costumes, dancing peasants, the King on his throne, a cross-dressing Dame, a love story, and plenty of jokes.

Sit back and watch as Jack climbs the beanstalk to confront the wicked giant in Bath Drama's fantastic, fun-filled pantomime.

Featuring all the panto traditions - jokes, songs, the battle between good and evil, a healthy dose of cross-dressing, and more jokes - this production also has live music from a band on stage and a tap-dancing cow.

The six shows include four evenings at 7.30pm from Wednesday to Saturday plus two 2.30pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets cost £8 for under 12s and just £12 for adults. Organisers say they provide great value for 'giant' entertainment.
