SHOPPERS at the Sainsbury’s store in Bradford on Avon have raised more than £680 so far for its local charity, We Hear You.

The store staged a tombola in the run up to Christmas which raised £370.73, on top of the £326.49 it raised between November 23 and 25.

The store’s community co-ordinator, Lynsey Hill, said: “Our customers have so far responded marvellously to our local charity, WHY.”

The cancer counselling charity also held a festive raffle at its local Sainsbury’s store in Frome in the run-up to Christmas.

Pride of Britain finalist and WHY supporter Rachel Clark drew the winning tickets on December 21, alongside Hannah Flatters from Sainsbury’s and Lucy McMahon from WHY.

Three winners took home a £200 voucher, a £50 voucher and a Christmas hamper respectively.

Lucy McMahon said: “It’s been a whirlwind few months as we were chosen as Charity of the Year in not just one but three branches of Sainsbury’s.

“We’re delighted to have the support of Sainsbury’s in Frome, Bradford-on-Avon and Midsomer Norton, communities where WHY’s counselling service makes a difference to people coping with cancer or a life-threatening condition.”

“Huge thanks also to all of our hardworking volunteers who have covered the many bucket collections, bag packs, cycle challenges and tombolas and helped to sell so many raffle tickets.”
