A MODEL railway made by a member for the West Wiltshire Model Railway Circle has been named the best in the west.

Club chairman Ron Pybus was presented with the award at the annual exhibition of model railways in Frome last weekend.

His model, known as How it’s Made, demonstrates bit by bit how the design is chosen, how the track is laid, how the scenery is constructed and how buildings, bridges and tunnels are made, through to the completed second half.

The layout itself took around 100 hours to make.

Mr Pybus said: “I was very pleased to have my layout named as best in the west.

“It is quite unique as it is the only one that actually shows how to start from scratch and end up with a finished layout.”

This is the second time Mr Pybus has been presented with an award, as last year his layout known as Lancashire Collieries won the best in show award at a Berkshire exhibition.
