WITNESSES are being sought by police after a 16-year-old boy was threatened at knife-point during a robbery in Trowbridge.

It happened at around 4.15pm yesterday when the victim was walking through the alleyway opposite Central Convenience Stores in Sycamore Grove.

He was approached by a young male in a hooded coat and camouflage balaclava, who threatened him with a knife and stole a number of items, including his bag, coat and trainers.

The victim was not injured but was shaken up by the incident.

The suspect made off from the scene in company with another male and a female.

The other male is described as white, short and chubby, and the female is described as skinny, blonde with a distinctive red puffa jacket.

They were all around 16-years-old.

A 15-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing.

Acting Det Sgt Rachel Winter, from Melksham CID, said: "Any incident which involves the threat of weapons will understandably be concerning for the local community.

"I want to reassure people that we are taking this incident seriously and positive action has been taken to deal with those responsible.

"The College Road area would have been busy at that time of the afternoon, and the youths involved were thought to be hanging around the college.

"People may have seen something or captured something on their car dash-cam which they did not realise was significant at the time.

"I would urge anyone who has information which could assist with our investigation to come forward and speak to police."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information in relation to the youths involved, should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190007837.
