A WOMAN has died in a serious road traffic collision on the A36 near Warminster last night.

The crash happened between the Heytesbury and Crockerton roundabouts shortly after 9pm yesterday (Sunday 27 January 2019).

It involved a white VW Touran and a blue Kia Picanto and, for reasons which are at this stage unknown, they collided head-on.

The driver of the Kia, a 28-year-old woman from the Warminster area, died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Salisbury District Hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries.

The road was closed for around seven hours while police carried out our investigation.

Anyone with information, including anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision or has dash-cam footage which could assist with enquiries, should call 101 and ask to speak to PC John Armstrong from the Roads Policing Unit.
