THE toilets in the Civic in Trowbridge are no longer open.

A sign has been placed on the door of the Civic to say the toilets are not open to the public, only patrons.

Councillor Edward Kirk said: “This is a town council building, which will cost the residents of Trowbridge £13,000,000, but the public cannot use the toilets in the foyer.

“Hopefully this will be addressed to ensure that the public can use the toilets unless a ticket event is taking place.”

Trowbridge town council has been holding discussions with companies to get quotes on refurbishing the public toilets in the town park.

Discussion shave been held with public toilet specialists Healthmatic about the specification of the refurbishment and a full quote from them is expected to be put before the next council meeting. The quote will include an option for a 50p entry charge and the council will need to consider what the opening times should be.

Opening existing toilets in Castle Place for more hours has also been explored.

A final decision will be made at the next meeting on May 21.
