PEOPLE trying to track down family history information will have advice on hand when a Cemetery Open Day is held in Devizes on June 27.
The town council is organising the event at the cemetery at the junction of Rotherstone and Couch Lane and both staff and councillors will be on hand.
The very first interment was held at the cemetery on October 9, 1879
During the cemetery’s 130 year history it has been expanded many times and each new section is labelled to make it easier for people to find their way around. The Victorian part of the cemetery has symbols to mark areas of graves.
