LIBERAL Democrats have announced its new line up of representatives in its shadow cabinet for Wiltshire Council.
Ian Thorn will remain leader of the party, which is the biggest opposition and 19 seats at the council. Deputy leader has bene named as Corsham councillor Ruth Hopkinson.
Cllr Thorn said: “With less than two years to go until the next Wiltshire Council election, it is now very important to challenge the Conservative administration at every opportunity and these appointments will play a crucial part in doing so.”
Ahead of the formal leadership battle to replace Jane Scott, he has highlighted five areas that to challenge the new leader on. Climate change, youth services and a project to improve the lives on vulnerable with carers through Shared Lives were three key areas. He added: “Will you move from a cabinet model to a committee structure? Will you hold a hustings meeting for all councillors? All five challenges focus on our long term future, our support for the most vulnerable and good governance’ said Ian Thorn. I look forward to a healthy debate.”
