FOURTEEN members of the Westbury Walkers set out from Marshfield for an eight mile walk on June 9.
The group started from Green Lane which they followed before crossing a stile and walking through valleys below Cold Ashton Village.
This took them on to the Limestone Link passing near Monkswood Reservoir, where they continued on more valley paths with views of St Catherine’s Court and into Oakford Lane.
They took a short detour from the lane into Motcombe Wood to have a look at a secluded lake and were surprised to see a full size canoe handcrafted from one solid piece of wood.
From here taking a steep and in places overgrown footpath up to Cherry Wood, they stopped for lunch whilst enjoying fine views down through the valley and to Bathford in the distance. They continued following tracks back to Green Lane.
