CONTRACTORS Dyer & Butler say they are still on target to complete works on the £3 million Farmers Roundabout improvements by October.

The nine-month contract is nearing its end with the company determined to keep to its tight schedule.

Work includes major road re-surfacing at the Farmers Roundabout, Western Way and at the A365 Bath Road junction.

Traffic lights will be installed at the Farmers Roundabout and the link ups to the existing signals at Asda and the A365 junctions.

The contractors will test new street lighting in Western Way and at the Farmers Roundabout and new bridge joints will be installed at the Challymead Bridge.

But some residents are already criticising the new lane layout, saying it could lead to accidents.

Damien Mence said: " It's not their fault that people can't drive properly and block roundabouts.

"Having said that I do kind of agree it's not going to be any better, just more confusing for the idiots who don't know what lane to be in."
