MORE than 50 members of The Woolley Wheelers Cycle Club in Bradford on Avon have raised £1,200 for Dorothy House Hospice at nearby Winsley.

They gathered at The George public house at Woolley, to watch Jan Helpworth present a bumper cheque to Verity Clark, community fundraiser of Dorothy House Hospice.

The Club’s members ride out every Sunday morning from The George in Woolley Street, Bradford on Avon.

They held a charity ride and family BBQ breakfast in June to raise funds for the Hospice. More than 40 riders took part in a 30-mile Sunday jaunt.

Afterwards, they enjoyed a family breakfast and barbecue cooked by the pub’s head chef and fellow Woolley Wheeler Alex Venables in the garden of The George.

Verity Clark, Community Fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care said: “Our thanks to the Woolley Wheelers cycling group who have raised over £1,200 for the Hospice with a charity ride this summer."

"This keen group of cyclists meet every Sunday and on July 7, many more people joined in their regular weekly ride in aid of Dorothy House and have raised an incredible about of money.

"Thank you so much to Alison, John and everyone at The George at Woolley in Bradford on Avon, the funds raised will help the hospice provide vital palliative and end of life care for patients and support for their families and carers.”
