THE lease of The Duke public house in Bratton is up for sale.

The move follows the collapse of Cascade Drinks Ltd (Moles), which had held the lease.

The freehold of the pub is owned by the Wellington Pub Company in Millbank, London.

The Wickwar Brewing Company, which had a management agreement with Moles, say there is no immediate threat to the pub.

There are 17.5 years left on the leasehold and the annual rent is £44,500.

A Bratton Parish Council spokesman said: "It has been made clear to both the agent managing the sale and Wickwar that the parish council would appreciate being contacted if there is any threat to the future of the village pub."
