AN exhibition by Westbury Leigh artist Lesley Longworth documenting the village and its residents in artwork and photographs is one of the events at this year's Westbury Festival.

Lesley has combined with local glovemaker and historian Lily Munday, who also lives in Westbury Leigh, to create an exhibition at her home interwoven with biographies and the history of the village.

Mrs Longworth said: "This is a unique opportunity to see behind the front doors of some of Westbury Leigh’s historic and beautiful buildings."

Visitors will also be able to see Lesley’s studio and an exhibition of her work. There is also a chance to meet and talk to Lily Munday who still lives in the Westbury Leigh house where she was born.

They will both be at the exhibition at 90 Westbury Leigh on Saturday September 28 from 10am-5pm, Sunday September 29 from 11am -3pm, and Monday September 30 from 4pm-6pm.

The exhibition will also be open from Tuesday October 2 to Saturday October 5 from 2pm-6pm. Entry is free.

This year's Westbury Festival kicked off on September 20 with the opening concert by Bristol's Renewal Gospel Choir.

The festival continues with the popular lunchtime concerts, including the Songbirds Choir at 1pm on Wednesday October 2 at All Saints Church.

The festival also welcomes the return of John Law, one of the UK’s most imaginative jazz pianists, at 7.30pm on Friday, October 4 at Holy Trinity Church.

The festival closes with BAFTA nominated composer and songwriter, Richard Digance at 8pm on Saturday, October 5 at The Laverton.

However, the festival isn’t all about music, the organisers have also have arranged talks, art exhibitions, vintage cinema and a mind-blowing festival quiz.

If workshops are your thing, then visit Tunisian crochet, spinning, a world-record knitting attempt and a fascinating evening of artisan floristry.

If you want an evening of fun, then go along to the comedy night on Saturday September 28 at The Laverton where you can see a hilarious theatre production which brings the Scottish highlands to Westbury.

Children aren’t forgotten either with a craft Superheroes and Scrapstore event on Saturday (September 28) at 10am at All Saints Parish Hall, and a retro-gaming day with Cyberjam at 10am on Saturday, October 5 at The Laverton, reliving the time when pixels were few but the fun was legion!
